Multan Ka Sultan Virender Sehwag - An Explosive Opener

Veeru was born on 20th of October in 1978 in the national capital of India. He is really a very dangerous aggressive opening batsman and has won many matches for his side through his alone efforts as well. He is really a very-very powerful hitter and doesn't mind whether he is playing test, one-dayer or T-20. He always looks to score as quickly as possible and this is the reason for his failures sometimes as well. Yes, it is theNajafgarh ka Nawab Virender Sehwag, a very attacking opening batsman.

Career in brief

Making his test debut in 2001 against SA, he influenced everyone by hitting a century on his debut. Later on, he added couple of fifties. In 2002 in England he scored yet another half century and one century. In the next year, he got couple of centuries against WI and NZ at home. He got out 5 runs short from making a double hundred at MCG against the Aussies. He became the first Indian to get triple century in test cricket in 2004 when he scored his career best 309 against the neighborhood Pak. He missed another opportunity to a ton in the next test falling short by just 10 runs against the same side.

He did well in the next two series as well at home. He got two centuries in 2005 verses Pak at home. He scored above 250 runs in 2006 in Pak. He fell short by just 1 run against the Caribbeans in 2006. His 150 in 2007 against Aussies came at a very important time that helped the visitors to clinch a win over the host. He scored his 2nd triple century against SA at home. His quick fifty against Eng gave Indian to achieve a target of over 375 runs in the 4th inning in 2008. He then gave a phenomenal performance in SL in 2009 helping the visiting side to win. He missed the chance of getting his 3rd triple ton in test by 7 runs. He got 2 tons and 1 fifty in that tour of SL.

He is such a guy who always looks to hit the ball out of the boundary ropes and this is also true that he deals in scoring runs in boundaries rather than in taking singles or doubles. He plays his natural game in all formats of the game and this is purely the reason of his success as a devastating opener for the Indian cricket team. His this strategy has helped the Indian team on a no. of occasions and this is why we call him as the Indian Test Saviour. The best thing about this wonderful guy is that he plays his natural game freely in all formats of the game. This is very important for any batsman to play his natural game without taking any type of pressure on himself.
