VVS Laxman

The Sankat Mochan of the Indian cricket team, born in the capital city of Hyderabad of the southern state of the Indian territory, i.e., Andhra Pradesh, on 1st of November in the year of 1974, has been playing for a very long time for his team and has contributed every time whenever the team has demanded him. Yes, we are talking about the Very Very Special stylish middle-order batsman VVS Laxman who has made every Indian fan to be proud of him.
Whether the top order has collapsed or the middle order has fumbled, he is the one on which the team has always relied upon and most of the time he has played some really match saving and match winning unforgettable innings.

Making his test debut against the South Africa in 1996, he has been continuously delighting everyone with his stylish batting. The most interesting fact about him is that he has been targeting consistently the yellow capped Australians and has got a fabulous record against them in almost every part of this world.

His best knock of 281 runs also came against the Australians in 2001 at Eden Garden when the home side India defeated the visitors after being forced to play the follow-on due to a phenomenal knock from this saviour. He added over 350 runs partnership with Rahul Dravid. The duo also batted superbly against the same side in the year 2003 at Adelaide when both contributed a partnership of over 300 runs once again as the visiting side finally landed on the winning side.

Besides these, he has played some match saving innings against the teams like SL and WI. His bat has made bowlers of most of the teams looking helpless whether it is SA, NZ or Eng. He scored more than 175 runs in the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2003. His fifty against the Kangaroos in 2004 helped the host to grab a win.
His fifty against the proteas away from home assisted the visiting side to clinch a win over the host side. He scored another century against his favourite team at SCG in 2007. He scored another ton against the same side, but this time at home, in 2008. He hit centuries against the Kiwis and Proteas in tough conditions away and at home respectively after the previous series against Australia.

He made yet another century but this time against the Lankans helping India to win the match. One of the most exciting test matches in the history of test match cricket was played in 2010 b/w Ind and Aus in India. He scored a much needed half century at crucial period of the game to clinch a 1-wkt victory over them. Later on, he has played some unforgettable match saving innings against other test playing nations like NZ and SA.

Besides this brief summary of his character, he has got a number of matches saving innings to his name. This guy is really a genuine test match saviour and this is the reason why he is popularly known as the Sankat Mochan of the Indian cricket team.
