Rahul Dravid


Rahul Dravid, popularly know as The Wall, was born on 11/01/1973 in the beautiful city of Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh of the Indian territory.

He started his international test match career in England where he scored 95 runs on his debut. His first test ton against the Proteas showed that the Indian cricket is going to have a really classical player in the form of Rahul Dravid. He batted like a truly legend and it didn't seem from his batting style and technique that he is playing his very first test match in the international arena.

His fantastic stats are enough to explain and prove him as a world class batsman. Besides his superb batting records he also holds the record for taking the most number of catches in test match cricket. He is a cool and composed player with a simple personality. Because of this, he has got fans all around the world who want him to score runs and to entertain them with his excellent batting techniques.

There had been many occasions in test match cricket where the Indian team needed someone to stay at the wicket, spend some time in the center, score some much needed vital runs and build partnerships. Rahul Dravid has been playing this role for a very long time and has batted sincerely and according to the situation a number of times and has brought the Indian team from a loss to a win or a draw.

At Eden Garden in 2001 against the Kangaroos when India was playing the follow-on, his partnership with Laxman of over 375 runs took India back into the game and the host emerged as the winning side. Rahul Dravid played an unforgettable inning of 180 runs in that match. He added 223 runs to his name at Adelaide due to which the visitor got victory over the home side in 2003. Besides these, he has been with the Indian team most of the time whenever she has been in trouble. He has scored a lot of runs both in the sub-continent as well as overseas. He has been playing innings for the nation and this is the reason why he is regarded as the most reliable Indian test player whenever he has been in the team. He has played many match saving innings again most of the test playing nations like Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies, etc. 

In the recently concluded test series against the Caribbean in West Indies, he was the best performer in the test series and as a result the visitor won the test series. Most recently, against the England in England he has hit three test centuries and has incorporated his best effort to prevent loss of the India cricket team. Because of his fabulous performance throughout this series, he has been given the Indian Man of the Series award. Though India has lost the series, we can't neglect the greatness of this world class player.

As long as we will try know more about him, we can't prevent us from being influenced with him. He has scored runs in every part of the world against the toughest sides in the toughest conditions. We must appreciate his talent and efforts and should have a respect for this real legend.

I think the BCCI and the controversy between Sehwag and Dhoni which is the cause behind Indian Cricket team loss in Test Series against Australia, and media has unnecessarily create hype for the senior players to go. Actually Dhoni should quit from Test Cricket who show his willingness to quit Test Cricket. This is not only the Drawid who had bad Test Series but also the other senior players and the junior players. Why BCCI and media forced Dravid to quit test cricket.

    According to me players like Sachin and Drawid are treasure of Indian Cricket and they should not be forced to quit like this. This is very bad that such a nice player of Indian Cricket has to quit like this. We will see how junior players or Dhoni or Sehwag will play like Drawad.
